The Journey

From controlling aircraft to developing leaders.

David began his career as an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force, ultimately serving as a Staff Sergeant. The work demanded focus, communication, accountability, and the ability to make sound decisions when the stakes were real.

He carried those lessons into a career spanning more than 30 years in the petrochemical and refining industry. Working on both the contractor and owner sides gave him a broad view of what creates value—and what gets in the way of it. He led diverse operations and sales teams, applied Lean methodology and continuous-improvement thinking, and helped organizations pursue stronger performance and business growth.

Along the way, one lesson became increasingly clear: systems matter, processes matter, and strategy matters—but results ultimately move through people. That conviction led David deeper into coaching, leadership development and the study of how people grow, communicate and change.

Today, he brings those worlds together to help executives develop stronger teams, organizations improve performance, and individuals make more intentional decisions about their future.

How David Thinks About the Work

Performance and people are not competing priorities.

High standards and human understanding belong together. Sustainable improvement requires clear expectations, disciplined execution, honest conversations, and leaders willing to see the people behind the performance.

That perspective connects David's executive coaching, leadership development, financial coaching, speaking and writing: help people see more clearly, choose intentionally, and act on what matters.

Experience taught me how organizations perform. Coaching taught me how people grow. Both taught me that lasting change begins with how we lead, how we think, and how we see others.

Beyond the Office

Endurance is another form of continuous improvement.

David is also a marathon and ultramarathon competitor. Distance running has reinforced many of the principles that shape his approach to leadership and life: preparation, discipline, resilience, continuous improvement, and the willingness to keep moving when the outcome is still a long way off.

It is not a business credential. It is another expression of the mindset he brings to difficult goals—prepare well, learn from the miles behind you, and keep making the next decision count.

Start a Conversation

Experience is most valuable when it helps someone move forward.

Whether the challenge is leadership, team performance, organizational change, retirement planning, or an upcoming event, start with a conversation about where you are and where you want to go.
